Plastic Surgery is Increasing in Popularity in the UK

Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery is increasing in popularity in the UK. Many of the taboos associated with going under the knife have disappeared as cosmetic surgery has become a legitimate solution to getting rid of problem areas of our bodies and boosting self-confidence. With a wide range of plastic surgeons in the UK, such as Gary L Ross and Harley Medical, the level of care and treatment is improving each year.

Here are six popular plastic surgeries:

  1. Facelift

The facelift has been a firm favourite amongst celebrities for decades and is one of the most sought after surgeries in the UK. The aim of the facelift is to combat signs of ageing and produce a younger, fresher, more defined appearance by tightening the facial muscles to smooth out lines and iron-out wrinkles. There are numerous different types of facelifts on offer, from full facelifts to upper or lower facelifts depending on the patient’s ‘problem areas’.

  1. Rhinoplasty (a.k.a, nose surgery)

The nose job is one of the most regularly considered surgeries in the UK. Our noses are the central features of our faces and up to 1 in 10 of us report being unhappy with the appearance of our noses. For those of us who are uncomfortable with our facial appearance, the nose job is a tempting operation. It can be used to alter either the tip of the nose, the bridge of the nose, the nostrils, or all three depending on the patient’s wishes and creates symmetry and definition in the face.

  1. Breast surgery

Once upon a time, the most famous type of surgery was the ‘boob job’. The term boob job was typically used to mean breast enlargement surgery, but there are a variety of different cosmetic breast surgeries available. One type of surgery that is becoming increasingly popular is breast reduction surgery. Breast reduction surgery can be performed on both men and women to reduce the size of the breasts, either to reduce the pain associated with having larger breasts, or to boost confidence. Breast uplift surgery can be performed either in conjunction with breast reduction or breast enlargement surgery, or independently to reduce sagging.

  1. The tummy tuck

Abdominoplasty surgery – or tummy surgery – is typically performed to improve the appearance of the stomach. It’s a procedure that’s commonly considered after childbirth to tighten the tummy muscles, remove sagging skin, and create definition in the abdominal area. Liposuction is commonly carried out at the same time to reduce fat in the abdominal area. For people who have lost a large amount of weight, a tummy tuck is often the solution to getting rid of the large amount of excess skin that’s typically left hanging in the tummy area.

  1. Implants

Implants can be inserted into various parts of the body – most notably the cheeks, chin, breasts and buttocks. In the face, implants can be used to create a fuller, younger appearance; elsewhere in the body, implants are often used to create a more shapely, fuller-looking figure.

  1. Botox

Botox is an incredibly common form of cosmetic treatment that doesn’t actually involve going under the knife; instead, it involves injecting a solution into the skin to reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles around the eyes, along the brow, and at the sides of the mouth. Fine wrinkles typically remain even after face-lift surgery, which is perhaps one of the reasons why Botox remains popular.
